Help test YarmiplayTV on Google Play
YarmiplayTV is on its way to Google Play. Before Google lets a new app in, at least 12 people have to test it for 14 days in a row. If you'd like to help, it takes a few minutes to join, and then you just use the app now and then.
Who can join
Anyone with an Android phone, tablet or Google TV / Android TV (Android 8.0 or newer) and a Google account. It's free, and you don't need to know any of the other testers.
Join in three steps
- Join the testers group, groups.google.com/g/yarmiplaytv-testers, with the Google account you use on your device: choose Join group. Members can't see each other's email addresses.
- Open the testing page, play.google.com/apps/testing/com.yarmiplaytv, signed in with the same account, and choose Become a tester.
- Install YarmiplayTV from Google Play: from its Play page, where you can pick the device to install on, or by searching for YarmiplayTV in the Play Store on your phone, tablet or TV.
If the testing page says the app isn't available, the test hasn't opened yet: try again in a few days.
If you installed YarmiplayTV from the download page before, uninstall it first. That version is signed with a different key, so Google Play can't install over it. You'll have to enter your servers and name again.
While you test
- Keep the app installed and stay a tester for 14 days. Google counts the testers who stay that long.
- Use it now and then: watch something with friends, or try sync on your own by joining the same room from a phone and a TV (server syncplay.pl, port 8999, any room name). Google checks that testers actually use the app.
- Updates come from Google Play like for any other app.
Feedback
- In the Play Store, YarmiplayTV's page has a feedback section for testers that only the developer sees.
- Or open an issue on GitHub: github.com/Yarmiplay/YarmiplayTV/issues. Issues are public.
Anything that breaks, looks wrong on your screen or confuses you is worth a note.
Leaving
Open the testing page again and choose Leave the program, and leave the group if you like. You can keep the app: once YarmiplayTV is public on Google Play, it updates from there.
The app collects no data; see the privacy policy.
